Once upon a time Robert Held Art Glass was Canada’s largest high-volume production facility in Kitsilano, British Columbia. Since then, Held’s company has reopened on Vancouver Island in Parksville as a reimagined version of itself. Shifting away from his previous business model, Held turned his focus to producing unique art pieces. Drawing on a deep respect for classical art masters, Robert Held Art Glass now stands out as a true artisan workshop.
Among his accolades, Held’s pieces have been widely collected including goblets for the Governor General of Canada as well as a commissioned piece in Queen Elizabeth II’s Royal Collection. Robert Held is a lifelong artist and a master glassblower, learning the trade in the late 1960s and eventually founding Canada’s first college-level glassblowing program. Held uses ancient techniques and an experienced hand to reach incomparable levels of craftsmanship.
