In the winter of 1977, Helen Long crafted crocheted handspun raw wool and handcut sheepskin soles into a pair of slippers for her young son. In the over three decades since, what has become known as the Original Padraig Slipper is still in production today at their North Vancouver studio. Employing over 30 artisans and staff local to Vancouver, Padraig painstakingly crochets and hand-dyes each pair of slippers to the exact specifications of its creator.
Sold across North America and Europe, Padraig has come a long way from Helen’s first forays into local craft and farmers markets. Yet the company is focused on supporting and promoting handcrafted quality and community spirit. A family-run operation, Padraig is proud of its values and its product line that has a slipper for old, young, big and small.
